How to Install the Brondell Swash 1400

Congrats on your purchase of the Brondell Swash 1400! Now that you have the best bidet in the Brondell Swash line in your hands, you’re probably anxious to install it and put it to good use. Luckily, the installation process can be completed by you (no plumber required!) with a few simple tools in about 20 minutes.

Before you get started, two key points: you need to have an electrical outlet near your toilet as bidets require electricity. You do not, however, need any additional water lines. Your Brondell Swash 1400 has a built-in heater to warm the water so it can therefore use the existing cold-water supply already behind your toilet.

Back to the Brondell Swash 1400 installation instructions:

First step is to remove your existing toilet seat, which should be fairly easy. Just close the lid of your toilet and locate the two caps behind the seat. These caps cover your toilet seat’s mounting holes. Either pop the caps open or, if they are stuck, use a flathead screwdriver to flip them open.
Underneath each cap, you will see a bolt. Unscrew the bolts with your screwdriver. You may need to reach underneath and unscrew a nut as well. Once you unscrew the bolts, remove them and remove the seat.
Now thoroughly clean the toilet.

The next step is to install your new Brondell Swash 1400:

Your Swash came with the necessary hardware to complete the installation: a mounting plate, guide rails, bolts, and nuts.
Start by grabbing the mounting plate and positioning it evenly over the mounting hole openings on your toilet.
Now place the guide rails inside the plate over each of the mounting holes.
Next, insert the bolts through the guide rails and into the mounting holes. Reach under the toilet and secure the bolts with the nuts.
Now, place the Brondell Swash 1400 flat onto the toilet in front of the mounting plate. Slide it forward towards the tank until you hear a click.
If the seat isn’t quite where you want it, loosen the nuts under the toilet and then slide the bidet seat either forward or backwards until you find the right fit.
Then retighten the nuts and bolts.

The final step is to hook up your Brondell Swash 1400’s water supply:

First things first, turn off the existing water supply to your toilet. Locate the water shut-off valve on the wall, and turn clockwise until the water is fully off.
Now flush your toilet and hold down the handle until the water in the toilet is completely drained.
Next, you’re going to unscrew the flexible water supply hose. You can see the water supply hose is screwed into the shut-off valve on one side and the toilet tank on the other. You’re going to unscrew the hose from the bottom of the toilet tank. Note: when you unscrew it, a little water might drain out of the hose so you may want a towel handy.
Once you unscrew the hose, use the “T” connection (so named because it looks like the letter “T”) that is included with your Brondell Swash and attach it to the bottom of your toilet.
Once you reconnect the water hoses, your water will be able to run in two directions: one way will carry water to your toilet tank; the other will carry water to your bidet.
Now reconnect the original water hose to your tank by screwing it to the bottom end of the T connector. Take the other hose that came with your Swash and attach it to the second opening on the T connection.
Finally, screw that hose into your bidet. Make sure all connections are tight and then turn the water supply back on again.

You are now ready to enjoy your Brondell Swash 1400!
